Which GA Pro Team Rules Them All?
The Braves’ Georgia-wide dynasty stems from the NL stalwart’s run at the top of the MLB league table, with a championship in 2021 and seven straight postseason berths in the state’s capital city. That success on the diamonds of The Show in combination with the Atlanta Falcons and Hawks’ continued mediocrity in the NFL and NBA allowed the Braves to open up a huge lead in the search volume category, finishing the period in question with a total of 2,740,000.
That seven-figure total dwarfed the totals put up by the Falcons (1,220,000) and Hawks (450,000), speaking to the long-term windfall in popularity that success can have on a franchise.
That success is expected to continue unabated this season, as oddsmakers from BetMGM GA are giving the Braves +110 odds of winning the NL East for the seventh time in eight years, ranking ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (+215) and New York Mets (+240) as we approach Opening Day in the ‘Big A.’
As for the Falcons and Hawks, the former is staring down a seven-year postseason drought while the latter sits squarely in the NBA’s play-in round bubble, at 32-36 (.471), putting them seventh in the Eastern Conference.
A trip to the postseason would mark the first time since 2023 that the Hawks reached the NBA Playoffs, though the club hasn’t won a postseason series since making it to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. Still, the Hawks’ search volume total ranked well ahead of the state’s other two professional sports teams, with the Savannah Bananas (368,500) and the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream (60,500) rounding out the list for the year.
Georgia’s other four sports teams were left to look up at the lone franchise in the state to win a title this decade, though, as the Braves finished leaps and bounds ahead of them with an eye to do more damage in 2025, entering the season with the second-best World Series odds in the 30-team MLB ahead of Opening Day, at +750.
