As baseball season draws nearer, BetGeorgia.com utilized BaseballReference.com to see how the Atlanta Braves stack up against their NL East brethren in the early months of the season, with the 2021 World Series champs hitting the ground running during the months of March and April from 2022 to 2024.
Rank | Team | Record | Runs Scored | Runs Allowed |
1 | Atlanta Braves | 47-30 | 376 runs | 298 runs |
2 | Philadelphia Phillies | 46-36 | 376 runs | 339 runs |
3 | New York Mets | 45-33 | 348 runs | 300 runs |
4 | Miami Marlins | 35-45 | 290 runs | 378 runs |
5 | Washington Nationals | 31-48 | 306 runs | 382 runs |
Of the five teams in the NL East, nobody has played better ball out of the gate than the Braves, who have posted a 47-30 (.610) record during the months of March and April over the last five seasons.
During that span, Atlanta’s +78 run differential blows the rest of the division out of the water, with the New York Mets (+48 run differential) and Philadelphia Phillies (+37 differential) being the only others with a positive RD during the last half-decade.
Unsurprisingly, the Braves’ .610 winning percentage during the opening months of the MLB regular season corresponds with the club’s .605 figure between 2022 and 2024, speaking to the importance of starting the year on a good foot. If only there was legalized Georgia sports betting to get in on the fun.
The next step in Atlanta’s diamond-wide evolution is to get past the Divisional Series in 2025, as each of the Braves’ last three trips to the postseason have ended in either the NLDS or the NL Wild Card Round, including last year’s two-game sweep at the hands of the San Diego Padres.
Luckily for Atlanta, the team at DraftKings Sportsbook doesn’t foresee the Braves having to fight too hard to secure home field advantage in the Wild Card Round (or earn a bye through to the NLDS), with a preseason win total over/under of 93.5 in Georgia’s capital city this baseball season.
