Editorial Staff Profile Picture
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

  • The Masters is less than two weeks away.
  • Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are the favorites.
  • But history says other contenders are likely to emerge.

Utilizing SportsOddsHistory.com, BetGeorgia found the pre-tournament odds of all the eventual Masters champions. After averaging out the last 15 champions’ odds, we identified the average pre-tournament odds of +2980. Then, we used DraftKings Sportsbook’s odds for the 2025 Masters to identify the golfers who fit that mold this year.

Who Will Capture The Green Jacket?

Tommy Fleetwood +3000

Here we go! Our Georgia sports betting analysis led us to the Englishman who has flashed at plenty of majors (2nd at the 2018 U.S. Open; 2nd at the 2019 Open Championship; T3 at last year's Masters), though has yet to win on the PGA Tour. Fleetwood has made seven straight cuts at Augusta National with 4 top 25's. Last year was his first top-five, and let's see if that carries over into 2025.

Jordan Spieth +3000

It's still strange to think that Spieth only has one green jacket (2015) to go with 6 top-5's at Augusta. While Spieth's win equity has cooled off in recent years after a torrid start to his career, he will always be a factor at the Masters. Backers can find confidence in his T4 at the WM Phoenix Open in February and T9 at the Cognizant Classic in March. The Texan seems destined for another Green Jacket before his career is over, even if his odds won't be in the same company as Scheffler and McIlroy.

Joaquin Niemann +3000

Our first LIV player to be identified, Niemann has already won twice on the Saudi-backed circuit this season. What has hampered his odds is a largely underwhelming major history, both at Augusta and across the other three slams. Niemann has all the talent in the world, but has yet to post a top 10 in 22 starts. His titles on LIV speak to good form, but let's see if it finally carries over to challenge for a major title.

Best of The Rest

Viktor Hovland +2500

Hovland is as hard to handicap as any golfer in the field at Augusta, but after his win at the Valspar in late March, he can't be counted out. Hovland did miss three cuts in a row before that win, and seems as baffled by his all-or-nothing form as everyone else, but he is among the best players yet to win a major. He has three top-5's in 20 career slams, but none at Augusta.

Will Zalatoris +3500

The 29-year-old Californian absolutely loves Augusta National, posting a runner-up, T6 and T9 in his only three appearances. Health is always the question with Zalatoris, but if his body is feeling right when it comes to Masters week, watch out for the man with 3 slam runner-ups.

Tyrell Hatton +3500

Another LIV player who warrants consideration heading into the first major of the year. Hatton continued to play well after joining the Saudi-backed circuit in early 2024, winning LIV Nashville in June and then adding DPWT titles in October and January 2025. He only has one top-10 at Augusta, but it did come last year. It's easy to see the Englishman building on that and getting in the hunt this year.
