Where Will Kirk Cousins End Season On NFL All-Time Career Passing Touchdown Leaders?

The first year of the Kirk Cousins experience in Atlanta is off to a rocky start, with the Falcons falling at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 18-10, with the veteran QB throwing for 155 yards and two interceptions in the loss. Cousins’ QBR of 30.3 in the eight-point home loss ranked 27th leaguewide during Week 1, illustrating how far the Falcons have to go to fly towards the franchise’s first postseason berth since 2017 this season.

Still, it’s worth wondering how far up the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown list Cousins will climb this fall, with the 36-year-old veteran out of Michigan State sitting on 271 scores for his career, two behind Hall of Famer Joe Montana for the No. 19 spot in league history.

With that in mind, BetGeorgia.com put on our Georgia sports betting hat and broke down the odds on how far Cousins will climb on that list in 2024, with decent odds that he’ll wind up as high as 14th in league history by the time the Falcons close out the year.

Where Will Kirk Cousins Wind Up?

Right now, Cousins needs 63 passing touchdowns to eclipse Russell Wilson in the No. 13 spot in NFL history when it comes to touchdown passes, as the Falcons QB has 271 scores to 334 for the Steelers veteran. Wilson meanwhile, has yet to throw a regular season pass for Pittsburgh as he battles a week-to-week injury to start the season.

In between, Cousins needs three touchdowns to jump Montana for 19th all time and five scores to pass Vinny Testaverde’s career total of 275 scores, while Johnny Unitas is next up, at 290 touchdowns.

Entering the 2024 league year, Cousins had averaged 22.5 touchdown passes per season, meaning he’d need to throw for at least that many scores to reach Carson Palmer’s career total of 294 touchdowns, which currently ranks 15th in NFL history.

The odds of Cousins doing that are +155 in 2024, while the chance that the Falcons QB bumps off John Elway for 14th all time at 301 passing touchdowns sits at +350, as he’d need to throw 30 more scores to reach such a number in 2024.

For now, Cousins is likely focused on getting back to the form he showed between 2018 and 2022, when he threw for at least 29 touchdowns four times, including a career high of 35 scores during his second season in Minneapolis back in 2020.
