When it comes to Christmas time spirits, it appears that Georgia natives have gone with a twist on a modern classic as their top pick over a host of traditional end-of-year drinks, with a twist on the Moscow mule being the Peach State’s choice in 2024.
Overall, the holiday-themed cranberry Moscow mule scored a one-point victory in the 2024 holiday drink of the year race, with eggnog (16 search interest score) and hot toddies (14 search interest score) being the next closest cocktails this year.
Rounding out the list in Georgia this year were the holiday classics known as spiced rum and peppermint mochas, though none of them could catch the cranberry twist on a timeless vodka-based classic in 2024.
BetGeorgia.com - home to Georgia sports betting news - wanted to get into the holiday spirit by seeing what holiday themed drinks are the most popular in Georgia. Using Google Trends, we conducted a search between September 19, 2024- December 18, 2024, to rank drinks by search interest scores.
Rank | Drink | Search Interest Score |
1 | Cranberry Moscow Mule | 17 |
2 | Eggnog | 16 |
3 | Hot Toddy | 14 |
4 | Spiced Rum | 10 |
5 | Peppermint Mocha | 9 |
At day’s end, the cranberry Moscow mule was Georgia’s pick as the top Christmas cocktail based on the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores, with 17 points, while eggnog and hot toddies were the next closest competitors in that spirits arms race.
Throw in spiced rum, which scored a search interest score of 10 points, and peppermint mochas, which had a search interest score of nine points, and you have the full list of the year’s top holiday-themed drinks in Georgia.
When all is said and done, none of those drinks held a candle in Georgia to the holiday twist on a cocktail that dates back to Manhattan in the 1940s, with the cranberry Moscow mule winning the honor of being the state’s No. 1 Christmas cocktail in 2024.
