Georgia’s Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dishes

As we patiently wait for more updates across the Georgia sports betting landscape, it’s time to turn our collective gaze forward towards Thanksgiving, when countless Peach State residents will trek towards loved ones’ houses to celebrate the nation’s eminent food-centric holiday come Nov. 28.

Across the state, a theme emerges when you look at which Thanksgiving side dishes are preferred in the Peach State come turkey time, with holiday staples like stuffing, mac & cheese and green bean casserole standing on their own alongside the bird itself when meals are served come holiday time in households across Georgia.  

Utilizing Google Trends, BetGeorgia.com analyzed the most popular Thanksgiving side dishes of Georgia residents by looking at the search results of each side dish from 11/01/2023 to 11/30/2023. The dishes analyzed were the most in total searches in the United States, including Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Mac & Cheese, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, Candied Yams, Brussel Sprouts and Cranberry Sauce.

What Is GA’s Favorite Thanksgiving Sides?

Based on the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores, we can assess that stuffing is Georgia’s top choice when it comes to Thanksgiving side dishes right now, with a score of 16 to finish ahead of other holiday stalwarts like mac & cheese (11 search interest score) and green bean casserole (five search interest score).  

Other Thanksgiving favorites like mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole (four search interest score each) rounded out the Georgia Thanksgiving sides list for the year, though the exact scores in each of Georgia’s largest metropolitan areas varied slightly, with stuffing scoring scores of 41% in places like Atlanta, Augusta and Macon but notching a 43% score in Columbus and a 40% total in Savannah.  

For the other two Thanksgiving mainstays, Macon provided the high water mark for mac & cheese, with a total of 30%, while Atlanta (29%), Augusta and Savannah (25% each) and Columbus (24%) all trailed in the cheese standings. When it came to green bean casserole, places like Augusta, Columbus and Savannah all finished at 15%, while Atlanta and Macon finished at 11% to wrap up the great Thanksgiving side dish race in Georgia for 2024.
