'Tis the season for wrapping gifts, sipping eggnog, and decorating the Christmas tree with friends and family. To add to the festive spirit, many choose to enhance the Christmas cheer by turning on their favorite holiday songs.

At BetGeorgia.com, we decided to take a holiday break from covering Georgia sports betting and legislation updates to see which of these Christmas songs Georgia locals cherish the most.

We pulled the search interest scores according to Google Trends for classic songs, such as "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night," to see what holiday tunes are populating the airwaves and what lyrics carolers are performing in the Peach State.

We used this data to find the top five most popular Christmas songs. The search was conducted on December 17, 2024.

"Rockinā€™ Around The Christmas Treeā€ Still Charting Over 60 Years Later

In Georgia, the top track turned out to be "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," followed closely by "Silent Night," "Santa Baby," "Jingle Bell Rock," and "All I Want For Christmas Is You." Written by the great Johnny Marks himself, this song was first recorded by Brenda Lee back in 1958. The song quickly became a classic hit, launching the career of then-13-year-old Lee.

It's worth noting that "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" was trending during Christmas last year due to the 79-year-old, now 80-year-old, Brenda Lee releasing the official music video to the song over half a century later. Amassing over 54 million views and counting, this wholesome video clearly reignited the love many Americans, specifically Georgians, have for this iconic masterpiece.

Speaking of iconic, weā€™re sensing a Christmas theme here in Georgia. BetGeorgia.com also discovered that ā€œHome Aloneā€ was the favorite Christmas movie among Georgia locals, which features ā€œRockinā€™ Around The Christmas Treeā€ in the background of one of the filmā€™s most well-known scenes where Kevin deters the home invaders with a fake party.

Whether you're a fan of a Mariah Carey Christmas or old classics from musicians like Frank Sinatra, get in the holiday spirit by turning on your favorite Christmas playlist while you wait for sports betting legalization efforts to be renewed in Georgia.
